Brendan Rodgers: Has found Luis Suarez 'challenging' at times

The Liverpool boss has found himself dealing with as many issues off the field during his 18 months at Anfield as he has on it.

Most of the fires he has been forced to fight have been ignited by talismanic frontman Suarez - with the Uruguayan having served a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and become the subject of an intense summer-long transfer saga.

Reports of interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus refuse to go away, but Liverpool maintain that they have no interest in discussing a sale.

Rodgers has adopted that stance throughout his tenure and, for all of the 'testing situations' he has found himself in, believes he has improved as a coach for everything he has experienced on Merseyside.

He said: "Seventeen months on, I'm a much better manager for that experience.

"Some of the things Suarez has done, he knows were wrong. Some of them have been really testing situations as a manager, there have been some challenging moments."

Speculation regarding Suarez's future is likely to surface again in January, but Rodgers is convinced that the South American is enjoying his football again and is prepared to stay put.

He added: "There's no club bigger than Liverpool, Luis now respects that decision because he's very happy here and improving all the time."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
