Jon Flanagan: Liverpool defender credits extra training for his goal

The 20-year-old scored the third goal in the rout, capping off another good performance and repaying the faith shown in him by manager Brendan Rodgers.

The full-back has featured regularly since Glen Johnson was ruled out of Liverpool's defeat to Arsenal with a jaw infection.

"I always stay behind after training with a few of the lads to do some shooting practice," Flanagan told the Liverpool Echo.

"I'd like to think it's something I can add to my game.

"First and foremost I need to concentrate on my defending as that's my main job.

"But as a full-back in the modern game, you also need to be able to get forward and pose a threat in the final third."

Flanagan also gave an insight into how he celebrated his first goal for the club - with highlights of the game.

"It was nice to watch the goal again. I recorded it too," he added.

"I'm still buzzing. To score was a dream come true."
