Arsene Wenger: Looking forward, no more reflections on Bradford

Arsene Wenger: Looking forward, no more reflections on Bradford

The Gunners suffered one of the biggest shock defeats in their history in midweek when they crashed out of the Capital One Cup to League Two side Bradford, losing another chance to end their seven year wait for a trophy.

But Wenger is keen to forget that reverse as soon as possible and ensure their poor run of form does not continue when they take on Reading on Monday night.

"In 16 years, it's the first time we go out against [a team from] a lower division. It is one time too many, but our record still shows we have been consistently focused on the competition," he said.

"We prepared (for) the game seriously and I don't believe there is much more to say about that.

"We have to swallow that and take care of what's important - the future.

"Our season will not be judged on how well we do in the Capital One Cup, but how well we do in the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup. For the rest, there's nothing to add.

"We are top professional people. What is important is what happens tomorrow, not what happened yesterday. We are sorry for that (the Bradford defeat) but what is important is the next game.

"My job is to be determined and give importance to what is important. What is important is I love football, I love this club and I give my best for this club. The rest, I cannot interfere with.

"Believe me, I am highly focused on doing that and all the rest, that doesn't interfere with my thinking at all. I am very determined and very hungry and if I wasn't, I wouldn't sit in front of you.

"I can understand that people criticise when the results are not as expected, but it looks like it has become the modern way to think.

"You say that 16 years can be a handicap, but as well it can be an advantage because you have experience, you love the club. If I sit here, it is because I have really shown how much I love this club. Also, you know you have gone through difficult periods before and you know how to turn it around."

PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
