Wenger hails improving trio

Arsene Wenger feels the newest members of his Arsenal squad are getting 'better and better' after they helped inspire a 5-1 thumping of West Ham on Wednesday night.

Olivier Giroud scored twice as the Gunners secured four goals in 10 second-half minutes, while fellow summer signings Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla were both on target, with the former also contributing some superb assists.

Wenger admits the convincing win was needed after back-to-back league defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea and was especially pleased with the efforts of his trio of summer acquisitions.

He told Sky Sports: "They are doing better and better. Podolski had a great goal and some great assists.

"Giroud is getting better and of course Cazorla, we know about him."

The manager added: "I believe overall we played very well for 90 minutes. In the space of 10 minutes we killed the game.

"If you look at the home games we have scored many goals in many games. Sometimes we've been stuttering but tonight it went well and we scored some great goals."

The win cements Arsenal's spot in sixth place in the table and Wenger hopes they can carry their form from Wednesday night into the rest of the season.

He said: "There's a big resolve in the team and I believe there's quality to come out, and hopefully we'll maintain that until the end of the season."
