The Gunners entertain the newly-crowned Premier League champions on Sunday, with the hosts targeting another top-four finish this season.

And the Belgium international defender insists there will be no distractions after Arsenal form a guard of honour for the United players before the match.

Vermaelen said: "The first thing is always to look at yourself and how you are going to perform, so I don't see it as a big deal that they have already won the title.

"While we congratulate them, we cannot worry too much about that. Both teams are hugely competitive and will want to win the game, so we will need to be at our best."

Vermaelen also believes watching United cruise clear at the top of the table has reignited the desire within the Arsenal squad.

He added: "Everybody here wants to do what United have done - we are all ambitious and have a big desire to win titles.

"We want to be doing it every year, and the drive is within all of us."

I

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

I

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
