Olivier Giroud hit a first-half hat-trick against the country's national side in Hanoi on Wednesday as the team continued their preparations for the new Premier League campaign that kicks off in a month.

It was another impressive show in front of goal for Wenger's side as they made it 14 goals in two games on their Far East tour.

"It was a game played with good pace and a good spirit. For us of course it was a good preparation for the season," Wenger told the club's official website.

"We played at a good pace and overall it was a very positive night. Vietnam have qualities and I think they suffered a little bit defensively against our pace up front."

Giroud fired in the opener after only five minutes and grabbed two more in the space of 60 seconds just before the half-time whistle.

Wenger introduced several new players off the bench for the second half with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, teenager Chuba Akpom (two) and Ignasi Miquel all finding the net.

Concerning the humid conditions, Wenger added: "We learned to suffer physically because we had two hard sessions on Tuesday and we practised today.

"The conditions, the climate, are difficult for us so we had to learn to suffer a little bit and keep our concentration to keep the level of our game high."

Vietnam did score a consolation goal after Tran Manh Dung's mistimed volley, although the hosts were reduced to 10 men in the closing stages when substitute keeper Nguyen Ngoc used his hands outside the box.

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
