Santi Cazorla believes the signing of Mesut Ozil, a man with 'bits of genius', represents 'superb' business for Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil: Has already offered a return on Arsenal's sizeable investment

The Gunners left it late to complete a marquee capture in the summer window, with Ozil snared from Real Madrid on deadline day.

Arsene Wenger broke from tradition to smash the club's transfer window in landing the Germany international, with a £40million-plus deal required to secure his signature.

While that price tag has placed added pressure on Ozil, it already looks like being money well spent - with Arsenal perched at the top of the Premier League standings.

Cazorla, who is currently sidelined through injury, feels Ozil is exactly what the Gunners need to take them to the next level, but has refused to be drawn on why Real were prepared to let a player of such obvious talent head through the exits.

He told AS: "He's a superb signing for Arsenal, a player who arrived with a lot of humility and wanting to do something important. He's a different player with bits of genius.

"Madrid's president has done great things for the club by signing spectacular players. Sure there will be people upset about it, but without knowing more than what I read, they have their reasons."

Ozil's arrival has provided direct competition to Cazorla in the creativity department, but the Spanish playmaker is confident he will play his part over the course of a gruelling campaign.

He added: "Everyone wants to play every minute, but you must understand that this is very long (the season) and there is time for everyone."

he thing is, footballers are role models, and children are influenced by them. I watched the Chelsea game with my 6 year old, and at school the next day she stamped on Emre Can.

et again Barcelona try to convince the world that they only play the most virtuous of football. I've never seen a team so willing and able to dish out lumps but feel so self-righteous that no opposition player should ever have the audacity to tackle them.

d love to see a United v Liverpool FA cup final. It would certainly fit the narrative. Obv I'd want the ending to be one of an O.G. and tears as he collects his runner-up medal.
