Aaron Ramsey: Looking to end the season on a high

Aaron Ramsey: Looking to end the season on a high

A nine-year wait for trophy glory at Emirates Stadium is well-documented, but Arsene Wenger's side will get another opportunity to end that drought at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Hull City stand between them a welcome return to winning ways, with Arsenal looking to repeat their efforts from 2005 - when they overcame Manchester United on penalties.

Ramsey is convinced they can negotiate the final hurdle and believes one triumph is all that is required to open the floodgates.

The Wales international midfielder said in The Sun: "We know what's at stake. We know what a victory would mean for the club and for the fans.

"It's also important for us as players because if we can lift that first piece of silverware as a group, it can be the start of us winning more.

"We've already got a great team spirit, a great togetherness, so if we can go and win that trophy it would mean so much.

"We're going to be the favourites, but we're used to that pressure playing for Arsenal.

"It comes with the territory, so what we must do is concentrate on our own game."

Ramsey hopes he will be given the opportunity to put the finishing touches to a mixed campaign on a personal level, with a flying start to the season followed by three months on the sidelines with a groin injury.

He has, however, been one of Arsenal's standout performers - netting 15 goals in all competitions - and credits Wenger with helping to unlock his potential.

The 23-year-old added: "I've always been confident in my ability and this season it's come together.

"The good thing is I've always had the backing of Arsene Wenger. When things were difficult for me, he was saying, 'Don't worry, don't let it get to you, you must always believe in yourself'.

"He's had a massive influence on my career and hopefully I've repaid him with my performances this season."

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
