Marcal has been linked with a move to Goodison Park as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines, who is regularly tipped for a big-money switch away from the club.

23-year-old Marcal is currently starring for Nacional in Portugal, who he joined in 2011 from lower league side Torreense.

Now Marcal is attracting interest from a number of top leagues from around Europe and Everton are being tipped to make a move.

Marcal's British representative, Lee Payne of Full Contact, confirmed to Sky Sports that there was a lot of interest in him.

"We know Everton have watched him, that is true - but Fernando has been playing very well and a number of clubs are following his progress," Payne told Sky Sports.

"As far as we are aware no bids have been made but we know a number of clubs have him on their list and it would not be a shock if someone did push ahead with something this month.

"But Fernando is happy and settled and so if he does not move in January that is no issue at all."
