@kalavrim @jelasfirsttouch, my point is not about profit on strikers (well it was to a certain extent), that was merely a microcosm of how moyes has not only improved the quality of the squad but also that he has done it by raising his own finances. Moyes is now a victim of his own success amongst everton fans and it troubles me. If David Moyes leaves everton I seriously fear for us, not immediatley but within 3-5 years I believe due to the finances, we will really struggle unless we somehow finance a new ground or recieve a rich owner, the latter I am not in favour of. We recieve roughly 800k per game match day income compared to liverpool and spurs, who are more than double that, with arsenal and united multiplying that figure by 4, we have no corporate seats which costs us majorly . First half of this season is the best football I have seen at goodison in my lifetime (season ticket since 95 minus the odd few years, i was born in 87, I am the jinx to why we have never won a title i think!) and to think he has done this spening 800k a year, 8.8m pound david moyes has left this club out of pocket in terms of transfers. Seriously, i may get some backlash for saying this, but far too many everton fans live in the 1980's with far too high expectations. we are no longer the school of science nor are we the "mersey millioaniares of the 60's, nor do we have the the ability to purchase the best players from the lesser teams in the league like the 1980's. Moyes is the only reason we are not in the bottom 6 year in year out, the only reason. D

@jelasfirsttouch I didnt miss johnson out (8.6-10.5). ah you must be reffering to the mythical "20 goal a seaon" striker every club demands/needs/must have. The only problem with that is it has happened only 10 times the past 5 years, with only 8 different players (rooney x2, van persie, aguero, berba, tevez x2, drogba, bent, lampard) granted suarez and van persie will pass that mark this season, but the common denominator is all these players cost over 20m (lampard was before all the billionaires). These strikers are hard to come by without money and wages. @kalavrim since moyes has been in charge 4 clubs (out of 22 finals) have won a trophy who have not finished in the champions league the season before, birmingham, boro, pompey and spurs who practically have a champions league budget.Theother 3 are no longer in the division. I really don't care about the league cup,its the 6th best trophy to win that english clubs can enter. we are 8 points off 3rd (how much have they spent?) and 7 off spurs. We have to play arsenal spurs an lpool, while its unlikely we are in the race for fourth, something I thought we had no chance at doing at the start (top 6 was a realistic ambition with our finances.)

@marlostansfield - I thought the post was really clear and reading it again - perhaps if you read the bit before the brackets; "...given his inability to win a domestic trophy at Everton (the 'shoestring budget' isn't washing anymore, on paper; our squad is more than capable)" Just to be pedantic, I meant capable of 'wining' a domestic trophy - as opposed to 'challenging' for one - we ceased challenging for fourth this season a little while ago now. I hope this helps; I stand by what I said. I only want a bloody league cup, is that really too much to ask for? I see your point around selling of for profit, that's good, providing the cash is re-invested in.... Oops, now that is catagorically NOT Moyeseys fault.

@marlostansfield my point was more that we haven't really had a top consistent forward season in/out. The figures stack up in terms of creating a profit but in having that consistency. You did miss Johnson out on that too and for the life of me I cant think of the figures involved there.

@kalavrim "the 'shoestring budget' isn't washing anymore, on paper; our squad is more than capable" capable of what exactly? Challenging for the top 4 and a domestic trophy like we are doing? David moyes has an average net spend average of 1.2m per season (transferleague.co.uk), go and compare that to any manager/club during the same period I think only wenger and fergie has a better netspend/points gianed ratio. It is his ability to get the most out of players and the money made available that we are in this position to have a "capable squad." My issue is and go where davey? @jelasfirsttouch "but lest we forget he has also spent a few quid that hasn't worked out" " His record with forwards is pretty awful" really? mcfadden ( fee-1.25,sold 4.75) M.bent (0.45-2.5) Beattie (6-4) Johnson (8.5-10.5) Yakubu (11.75-1.5) saha (free) beckford (free-4m) jelavic (6m) so apart from yakubu (he did score more than 20 in a season, only player since peter beardsleyto do it) and beattie, we profited from every striker he has ever bought. What is the other "few quid we have spent that hasnt worked out? I can think of only 2 bad signing who were not only poor but we didnt recoup the money is kroldrup and billy. 2 in 11 years isnt bad. Im not saying these players are world beaters, but they have all played their part in improving us over the years.

Dont know if he would be mad to leave, unfortunately Everton are on the rise really think he can do some damage with them if he gets the right money and the right players...he can only buy players that suite the way Everton play and those type of players aren't laced with ability plus Everton dont have that much money andthe likes of a Michu are 1 in every 3 years so chances of finding 1 of these freaks for 2-3m are not high, if he gets the money to spend next year then def Everton have to be official contenders for top 4. Would be a shame if he left England you have to admire how this man conducts himself.

kalavrim- spot on. I love him to the bones for what he has done generally but lest we forget he has also spent a few quid that hasn't worked out. His record with forwards is pretty awful and away against ahem "bigger sides" and in Europe is poor. I also don't like the way he has gone about this "Europe or I'm off" essentially threat. For someone who prides himself on being a class above he has essentially just made eyes at any other club who may be interested. If he is a man of integrity surely there is a better way? As I've always said I do love the man though and we will only truly know how good/his limitations are if and when he leaves

If the main reason that he seeks new pastures is the accolade of trophy sucess then I would be surprised to see him stay in England. Despite the uncertainty a top four premier league club would have over Moyes, given his inability to win a domestic trophy at Everton (the 'shoestring budget' isn't washing anymore, on paper; our squad is more than capable) - indeed the expectation of picking up a league title in his first two years might see his stock sink rather than rise. We shouldn't forget that Mr Moyes is rewarded with one of the higest paid managerial contracts in the game. If he wants to manage at the top he might be better place with a dominant domestic team in a smaller european league with a good chance of competing for the Uefa cup and then go for a top premier league job when he has learned to win stuff. No single person will ever be bigger than Everton Football Club. Still love David Moyes; but if he falls out of love with us, what can we really do? COYB.

Probably will be a disaster if/when Moyes leaves. That said I would not begrudge him a huge payday and the chance of a realistic shot at CL. I would be disappointed if he left Everton to manage a team that is no better/bigger like Newcastle for example. If he took the Arsenal/Man City/Chelsea/Man Utd job then fair play and good luck to him.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
