Moyes hopeful of European spot

David Moyes felt his side were denied a legitimate goal but insisted Everton would carry on the fight for a European spot despite their stalemate at Liverpool.

The Toffees had a Sylvain Distin goal ruled out in a tense clash as the two sides cancelled each other out in a frenetic but goalless clash.

Moyes' side are now five points behind Chelsea and Tottenham, who occupy fourth and fifth positions respectively with two games of the season remaining.

Everton have a home game against West Ham to come next Sunday before finishing their campaign off at Stamford Bridge.

But Moyes was left upset with Distin's effort, which was disallowed by referee Michael Oliver for a foul in the area.

"It was a goal," the Scot told Sky Sports. "Their goalkeeper runs into our player so the goal should stand. I can understand if our player ran into their keeper, you can give a foul for that, but the goalie ran into him, so it was a goal.

"We're still in there (for a European spot). We picked up a point today. We had a really difficult run it, which everybody kept reminding me.

"We've got two games to go and we'll keep pushing to try and make Europe if we can."

ll very well selling all midfield and strikers but unless we bring anyone in that is better than what we had then it will be a terrible transfer window in my view. Sorted out the defense but our midfield and striker options look very light.

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...
