Gerard Deulofeu: On-loan Everton winger has Barcelona objective

The teenage winger is spending the season with Everton to gain first-team experience and he scored on his debut in the Capital One Cup against Stevenage.

He has made seven substitute appearances in the Premier League, but Roberto Martinez has hinted the 19-year-old could make his first start in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Deulofeu is not worrying about reports that it has taken him longer to adjust to the demands of the English game than had been predicted.

Instead, the promising attacker is happy with how things are going at Goodison Park, although he retains the ambition to make it at Barcelona.

"My objective is to improve as a player and to go back to Barcelona to play for the maximum number of years possible," Deulofeu told Esports Xarxa Radio.

"Now, I am very calm about my adaptation to the Premier League. Game by game, I fulfil my mission.

"I am young and I need to work every day to obtain my targets."

resumably, you wanted to keep the version of Downing that was never seen at Anfield. The one that another manager has managed to re-create. The one you passed over.
