After two years in Germany with Werder Bremen, the 35-year-old is now back in England and hopeful of finding a new club.

He spent time training with Arsenal, but is now settled in the North West and keeping fit with Manchester United where he spent nine years earlier in his career.

"I am still waiting for offers, I am getting fit now and I have that chance to get a last contract," he told Sky Sports News Radio.

"I went to Germany and played two years with Werder Bremen and I came back to England, and trained a bit with Arsenal and now I am in the North West training with United.

"England is kind my home now, I have had nine years here."

He insists he would consider playing outside the Premier League, saying: "I am ready and that is all I can do.

"You can't say no to a team that is willing to show an interest, and so the Championship now with all the clubs around Manchester, if I could play for the likes of Blackburn and Bolton - why not?"

United have struggled with injuries during Silvestre's time training with his former club, but he insists playing for the Red Devils again was never really an option.

"At the beginning when my contract was available I was not match fit, after that the players came back - Chris Smalling, Phil Jones came back and Vida [Nemanja Vidic] is not far away," he continued.

The centre-half says that training with the team and then not being involved on a match-day is an unusual experience.

"Sometimes I do feel the frustration when I see the guys going to catch a train or plane or to go away to a hotel and I miss that, but that is why I am training hard," he said.

"Clubs are aware [that I am available] but in the middle of season they won't need an extra man at the back, most clubs look at attacking options and I don't wish for anyone to get injured but I wait patiently."

He admits there has been an extra buzz around Carrington with the Manchester derby this weekend.

"When these games come, everyone is on their toes and the manager is making sure everyone is more than ready," he said.

"It is the kind of game you want to be involved in."
