Dougie Freedman: Was pleased with side after draw at Huddersfield

The struggling Wanderers appeared to have salvaged victory despite Zat Knight's early own goal with Matthew Davies and Chris Eagles efforts, but had to settle for a point after James Vaughan squared it at the death.

"I am very proud of that performance," Freedman said afterwards. "I am excited about what we have to work with here.

"I understand people will be disappointed at some of the results but from a coach's point of view we keep putting in performances.

"Sometimes you don't get what you deserve but you just stick to your principles. We play on the front foot and we keep going. What we need to do now is change these draws into wins."

On the performance of Eagles, who missed a penalty before popping up with Bolton's second, Freedman added: "He showed his character by coming back to score the goal and I will leave it to him whether he wants to continue (as penalty taker).

"I don't think he will give it up, but I will give him the option. He is a team player and will do what is best for the team."
