Full-back Marcos Alonso has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a three-year deal from Bolton Wanderers.

Marcos Alonso: Has joined Serie A side Fiorentina

The 22-year-old moved to the Reebok Stadium from Real Madrid in 2010 and was a key figure for Bolton following their relegation to the Championship last year.

The Spaniard made 46 appearances during his three-year spell with the Trotters and Fiorentina were believed to be chasing his signature during the January transfer window.

Alonso's contract was due to expire at the end of June and a number of Premier League clubs, including Hull City and Stoke City, were reported to be interested in him.

But he opted for a move to Italy instead, putting pen to paper on a deal that will keep him there until 2016.
