Dougie: We can turn it around

Dougie Freedman admits struggling Bolton are 'lacking confidence' but believes there is no reason why the club cannot find the sort of form that took them to the brink of the play-offs last season.

Dougie Freedman: Remains confident of leading a Bolton revival

The Wanderers are currently propping up the Championship table and are yet to register a league victory this season from eight attempts.

The club also started the season poorly last season but finished the campaign by collecting 34 points from 17 games to miss out on a play-off spot on goal difference only.

And Freedman told the Bolton News: "At the moment it is difficult for everybody involved at the club.

"We have to start winning football matches which will breed confidence.

"We are lacking in confidence and we need to go back to basics. We are slipping over in certain matches but we are certainly not falling down.

"The good thing is these players can win football matches if they are focused and their concentration is for 95 minutes, not 80 or 70.

"We turned things around last season and gathered some momentum - I know we can do that again."

The 39-year-old Glaswegian also believes the form of midfielder Chris Eagles is vital to their hopes.

He added: "Chris is always buzzing and he's a great guy to have around the place.

"I said last year he is the guy that I want to work things round because he has that spark."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
