Freedman: Lee won't leave

Dougie Freedman has dismissed claims that Lee Chung-yong could be on his way out of Bolton Wanderers in January.

Chung-yong Lee: Being backed to rediscover his top form

Lee has not started a game for the Trotters since late September and reports have suggested that the 25-year-old's days at the Reebok Stadium could be numbered.

Freedman has rejected the rumours, though, and backed the South Korea international to recapture the form which made him a fan favourite and saw him heavily linked with a big-money switch prior to a horrific leg break in 2011.

He told the Bolton News: "He is an exceptional player but he hasn't found his top form since that broken leg. But when he gets to the Christmas period you will see a top Chungy.

"Will he be going anywhere? Absolutely no chance. And I think Chungy realises that as well.

"He has a World Cup coming up and the last thing he needs is to be moving to a different country or a different club and maybe not playing. Chungy is a good lad and understands that."

Freedman has also blamed South Korea's hectic international schedule for the midfielder's current lack of fitness.

He added: "I allowed him to stay in South Korea (over the summer). He played his last game on June 22 when he shouldn't have done and I wasn't too happy. I let him stay for another month but when he came back, he wasn't fit.

"For the first three or four games, because of injuries and suspensions, Chungy had to play more than he should have done when he wasn't up to speed.

"So, I am going to take Chungy's first six or seven games out of the equation because he wasn't fit and I didn't have enough squad rotation to change him.

"Before, he has had to come back into a struggling side and having to perform after an international break. But I believe now, if I have my timings right, Chung-Yong Lee will be, in the next six to 10 games, our best player.

"He will be fit and more confident. So, in a roundabout way, we are going to get there eventually with him."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
