The 23-year-old Zambian, who has also attracted interest from Arsenal, is flying to England to undergo a medical with the Royals on Monday or Tuesday.

Sunzu's contract at Mazembe runs until 2015 but Reading have persuaded the DR Congo side to sell, with only formalities remaining before the transfer is completed.

Mazembe president Moses Katumbi said: "Indeed, Sunzu is heading to Reading for tests after the agreement by TP Mazembe and the Zambia Federation.

"He just sent us a message in which he thanked the club."
