Jobi McAnuff: Confident Reading have what it takes to avoid relegation

The Royals captain, who joined the side in 2009, scored for the first time in 11 months in the 2-1 defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson's men on Monday in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

And while expressing delight at his long-awaited goal, the 31-year-old insists Reading are prepared to fight for their Premier League survival if that's what is needed come the end of the season.

"It was a nice place to get one and long overdue," said McAnuff.

"Hopefully I have a few important ones to come from now until the end of the season. The main thing is to keep performing well."

Reading host fellow strugglers Wigan this weekend, with the Latics trailing Brian McDermott's men by just two points.

McAnuff added: "Come the end of the season, if we need to win against West Ham to stay up then that's a must-win game.

"Other than that, it's a game of football and there are still a lot of points to play for. Of course it's a big game, but they all are in the league that we are in.

"We're in decent form and we're playing fairly well. We're very confident at the moment and we just need to keep going."
