Noel Hunt: Wants Reading to take something from Arsenal game

The Royals are currently second bottom of the table and seven points adrift of safety after suffering five straight defeats.

The club are also without a permanent manager after Brian McDermott was shown the door last week, with academy boss Eamonn Dolan in temporary charge.

Reading have eight games left to play and 30-year-old striker Hunt knows they need to start picking up points with time running out to secure safety.

He has challenged his team-mates to take something from their trip to Emirates Stadium next Saturday against the top-four chasing Gunners as they look to pull off a relegation escape.

Hunt told the Reading Post: "We've got to get something at Arsenal. That's the main objective and it's down to us as players to get it."

The striker knows Reading's players must knuckle down under Dolan to try and turn things around.

He added: "Eamonn's settled the ship, and it's work as usual for us.

"We need to keep our heads down now and work harder than ever. We've got to be professional and do the right thing."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
