Goalkeeper Taylor has stepped up from his role as third-choice following injuries to Adam Federici and Alex McCarthy to play in the Royals' last three games.

However, the arrival of new manager Nigel Adkins following the sacking of Brian McDermott, coupled with the return to fitness of McCarthy, mean Taylor's place in the side is far from certain.

Taylor signed a one-year deal to move to the Madejski Stadium last August, and would be prepared to add another name to the list of clubs he has played for that includes Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

"I left Arsenal and went to Aston Villa but there was a managerial change and it didn't work out," said the 32-year-old. "Sometimes you get told this and that, then it doesn't pan out.

"That's football. If I'm not getting games then I hate sitting around.

"I'll go wherever I have to in order to play. I've been lucky, I've played at big clubs and in big games.

"I won't change what I do. I'll work hard and whether it's a new manager or not it's still about keeping the ball out of the net. Simple."

Awe

Taylor will face Arsenal if he keeps his place for Adkins' first game in charge, and his respect for Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger is still in place nearly eight years after he left for Villa Park.

"I was in awe of the players there but Arsene Wenger was fantastic too.

"Wenger does everything at the club. The only thing he didn't do was hang our shirts out in the dressing room.

"Last summer I didn't have a club and they let me go back in and train.

"I still speak to one of the chefs there and people behind the scenes. The fact Arsene is still there says a lot about him."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
