Anton Zingarevich: Owner has high ambitions for Reading

The Royals will kick off the season with a home clash against Ipswich and Zingarevich expects Nigel Adkins to secure an immediate return to the Premier League following last term's relegation.

"If we have that mentality, and we're successful, then we'll be back in the Premier League," he told Reading 107FM.

"Of course the ambition and the objective is to win the league. That's the only thing that we, as a football club, want to achieve. We've had board meetings where we've discussed this.

"We all have that message throughout the club that we want to win the league. Everything is there for us to achieve that.

"We've done it before, so the players and the staff know what needs to be done to win the league. But now we've also had the Premier League experience.

"The Championship is an interesting competition on its own. Of course, you want to be in the Premier League, but the Championship is a good league. The level of football is getting better and better. The league is competitive and because it's so competitive, every supporter enjoys winning and that's something we will definitely like to achieve.

"The message should be clear - we want to try and win every game. If we have that mentality, and we're successful, then we'll be back in the Premier League."

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
