Jordan Obita: Has forced his way into the first team set-up at Reading

A product of the Royals' academy system, Obita has had to be patient in his pursuit of first-team recognition.

Much of his senior experience to date has been collected away from the Madejski Stadium during loan spells at Barnet, Gillingham, Portsmouth and Oldham Athletic.

It was during his stint at Boundary Park last season that Obita decided he had had enough of life on the road, with the 19-year-old heading back to Reading in April in an effort to catch Nigel Adkins' eye.

He told the Reading Post: "I decided to come back and try to impress the manager early.

"Then, in the summer, I found out I was going on the pre-season tour.

"My agent and family told me to make sure I did well but I thought that doing well wasn't good enough, I wanted to be the best player on tour.

"I wanted to score and set up a few goals and then I would have my chance more."

A man who has since made three starts, two of them in the Championship, added: "I'm pretty young still. I'm 19 and not many 19-year-olds play in the Championship.

"I want to try and cement my place now but if I don't, then I just have to keep developing and getting better."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
