Gareth Bale: The Welshman thought he was 'clipped' by Daniel Agger befor

The Welshman was at the centre of the 2-1 win at White Hart Lane as he set up Aaron Lennon's opener before scoring the second from a free-kick and then later netting an unfortunate own goal.

But Bale, not for the first time in his career, was also cautioned in the second half by referee Phil Dowd for seemingly simulating a foul under a challenge from Daniel Agger.

Asked about the incident after the final whistle, the Spurs winger told Sky Sports: "I thought I got clipped a little bit.

"Sometimes it happens. You have just got to get on with it."

Bale instead wanted to concentrate on Spurs' return to form as the weekend London derby win over West Ham United was followed by the success against Liverpool.

Tottenham had previously lost three successive Premier League games but they now sit fifth above Everton and North London rivals Arsenal, who drew 1-1 on Wednesday night.

It would suggest head coach Andre Villas-Boas' tactics are beginning to have an impact and Bale said: "We are not too far off (where we want to be).

"There were good results elsewhere for us tonight, which was important.

"We have just got to focus on ourselves, focus on game by game, and I think we are improving in every game."

Of his own goal, when a Lennon goalline clearance smacked him in the face before flying into the net, Bale joked: "I felt like I had been knocked out. It is one of those things you cannot do much about."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
