Michael Laudrup: Pinpointed Tottenham's Jermain Defoe as a major threat

Manchester United head into Easter with a 15-point lead at the top and a 20th English title looking like a formality, but Laudrup has been more struck by Saturday's visitors to south Wales.

Tottenham won 1-0 at White Hart Lane when the teams met in December and are aiming to become the first side this season to complete a league double over City.

Laudrup said: "Of course Manchester United will win the title, but the team I have been most impressed with this season is Tottenham.

"They have pace and individual skill. They are so difficult on the counter attack."

Gareth Bale returns to his home country on a run of 11 goals in 11 Spurs games, but Laudrup said: "You can't think just about Gareth Bale, who is probably having his best season.

"Jermain Defoe is top class. He has pace and individual quality, he is the type of striker I like."

Swansea are expecting seven players back from international duty ahead of the weekend, but their manager believes the break could have more of an effect on Spurs.

"You never know after an international break," he said. "The big teams may have something like fifteen players away playing on a Tuesday and then travelling back, but for us here it is a little different."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
