Michael Dawson: Hopeful ahead of Sunday's game with Man City

Spurs are seventh in the table, five points behind leaders Arsenal, ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Sunday.

"I think Man City are a top team," Dawson told Sky Sports News ahead of the Super Sunday clash.

"They won the league two years ago and some of the players they have, they want to win the league. Our aim is to be in the top four. Things don't change and we are still striving for that."

Only Sunderland and Crystal Palace have scored fewer goals than Tottenham so far this season, but Dawson insists that they have the players to hit the back of the net.

He added: "We have got players in that dressing room that will score goals, Jermain [Defoe], Robbie [Soldado], Ade [Adebayor], we have got players who can play in the 10, Christian [Eriksen], Gilfy [Sigurdsson], Lewis [Holtby], players who will score goals and I believe we have top players who will score plenty of goals going forward."

Dawson also believes the Tottenham medical staff were wrongly criticised regarding the Hugo Lloris incident when the goalkeeper was recently knocked out at Everton.

"I was involved heavily in it," he said of the incident at Goodison Park.

"You could see he was knocked out and then, when he stood up, he was still in a bad way. But, as we were walking off, he was telling me he could carry on and the medical staff assessed him and thought he could play on, and I don't believe the medical staff deserved the criticism they got."

Michael Dawson was speaking at a photoshoot to mark the launch of the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black toothbrush which is available from Boots, John Lewis and amazon.co.uk. For more information go to www.sonicare.co.uk

air play to the lad. I'd like to think I 'd have no fear of heading off to the other side of the world to coach, but in truth, I don't have the cajones. Hopefully he can make a decent living out of it.

was reticent with this signing, bringing our outlay on left backs to £50m + a Nani loan (and still paying his wages). However, if he's better than Pele then who am I to complain...
