Clark wary of Rhodes threat

Birmingham boss Lee Clark is all too aware of the threat Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes will pose his side this weekend.

Jordan Rhodes: Played under Clark at Huddersfield

Clark, then in charge of Huddersfield, signed Rhodes from Ipswich in the summer of 2009 and never looked back as the prolific marksman went on to become one of the most feared strikers outside the Premier League.

Clark, now with the Blues, must work out how to stop him on Saturday as he takes his side to Ewood Park to face Blackburn, for whom Rhodes has already found the net six times since his summer switch from Huddersfield for a fee worth up to £8million.

"You couldn't wish it on a nicer lad," Clark said. "He's one of the best pros I have come across. He is so humble, so polite. But you give him half a sniff and he's ruthless.

"I still keep in touch with him now. If that lottery ticket had come in maybe I might have persuaded him to come down here!

"We have to be right at it to make sure he doesn't produce because he's one of those strikers who, in a game of 94, 95 minutes, has been anonymous but then goes and scores a goal that wins your team the game. He has done that on many occasions for me. I have seen him do it for Blackburn already. We have to be well aware of what he is about."
