Sven-Goran Eriksson: No fears about managing in the Championship

On Thursday, Rovers announced caretaker manager Gary Bowyer would remain in charge for the rest of January after masterminding back-to-back wins over Barnsley and Nottingham Forest.

Earlier in the day, Eriksson was quoted in the Lancashire Telegraph suggesting the post made vacant by Henning Berg's sacking would interest him, despite not being contacted by anyone at the Championship club.

"No one from Blackburn has, asked me about it but of course Blackburn Rovers are a club I have looked up over the years," he said.

"It is a very good club and a big club and they belong in the Premier League. It would be a job anyone would be interested in.

"Of course I would like to get back into football and I love English football, whether you are talking about the national job, Premier League football, Championship or even League One and Two."

Eriksson's agent Athole Still would not be drawn on the possibility of his client ending up in east Lancashire but confirmed a return to management could be on the cards.

He said: "I've no comment on (the Blackburn link) at the moment. I know about it but that's all I can say.

"It's not a question of the Championship or anything. He is interesting in getting back to management at a good club."
