Gary Bowyer: Pleased with Blackburn's energy

A Jordan Rhodes penalty and Scott Dann's header - both in the first half - were enough for a 2-0 success, and Rovers finished the day a point clear of third-bottom Barnsley with five games to play.

The first of those is at home to Huddersfield on Tuesday, and caretaker manager Bowyer wants his players to focus quickly.

He said: "We can't look any further than Tuesday. As much as we want to enjoy this win, we've got to refocus on preparing properly.

"The situation that we're in now, if we're fourth from bottom on May 4, there will be a lot of happy people. Not for the reasons we should be happy, but because we've stayed in this division.

"I thought the energy we showed and the way they went about it was pleasing.

"We started the game on the front foot and got the penalty that settled us down and gave us confidence. It gave us a boost. Obviously to score right on half time was excellent timing."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
