Former Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon has joined Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer.

Matt Kilgallon joins Blackburn on a free transfer

The 29-year-old, who left the Stadium of Light at the end of last season, has agreed a two-year contract at Ewood Park.

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer said: "He's left-sided and has the ability to play in a couple of positions for us, both at centre-back and at left-back.

"He will bring a lot of experience from playing in the Premier League and in the Championship."

Kilgallon, who made his debut for Leeds 11 years ago, made just 21 league starts in two-and-a-half years on Wearside and had loan spells at Middlesbrough and Doncaster before his release in June.
