Rover Spurr driven to succeed

Tommy Spurr has been impressed by the training facilities since signing for Blackburn but has no plans to ditch his carpool in favour of a personalised parking space as he looks to fit in at Ewood Park.

Tommy Spurr: Enjoying the set-up at Rovers

The left-back joined Rovers after winning the League One title with Doncaster last year and is already relishing his new surroundings at the club's Brockhall Village training base.

The difference between his former home in South Yorkshire and his new one was evident even before Spurr entered the building with each Rovers player issued their own personal car-parking space.

Spurr admits he is adapting to a rather different world having been part of a seven-person lift-share in Billy Paynter's Kia Sedona during his time with Doncaster.

"I'm not used to lads having their name in the car-park spaces!" said Spurr.

"It's a Premier League set-up and, all joking aside, it's something I wanted to come to and try and be a part of something successful here.

"It's how well-run and how professional all the lads are. They do work hard and it shows here they have all the facilities to do whatever they want and practice whatever we need. I'm just enjoying being part of that."

The 25-year-old is now hoping to bring the camaraderie he enjoyed at Doncaster to his new club after roping goalkeepers Simon Eastwood and Jake Kean into his new car-school.

"It's good fun and it keeps team-spirit up when you're with a group in the morning," added Spurr.

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
