Bowyer focuses on positives

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer focused on the positives after watching his side draw 0-0 with Huddersfield, a result that means they have now gone three games since tasting victory.

In a game of few chances, neither of the league's leading marksmen, Jordan Rhodes and James Vaughan, could find the net, though the Blackburn striker headed over his side's best chance in the first half.

Blackburn were indebted to goalkeeper Jake Kean late in the first half when he produced a fine save to thwart Adam Hammill's glancing header, and Bowyer was quick to praise Kean and Rhodes.

"For all our dominance in possession, our goalkeeper has made the best save of the game so we've got to give him credit for that. His concentration levels were fantastic," Bowyer said.

Commenting on the Rhodes miss, he said: "It was a hell of a ball in from Tom Cairney and he's (Rhodes) got too much on it.

"With his quality we're being greedy thinking it's a great chance but it isn't. He's done magnificently well in the last three games with his (broken) hand and the shape he's in but he hasn't moaned."

Despite failing to find the net, Bowyer was happy with his team's first shut-out of the season.

He said: "I'm happy with the clean sheet because it's our first of the season and that was against the leading goalscorer in the Championship, which was a positive for us.

"But at the other end I think for long spells we dominated the game in terms of possession. Crosses and shots stats weigh heavily in our favour but we haven't been cute enough in the final third.

"If you look at the game itself, Huddersfield changed their formation four times so that's a massive compliment to us and the air of disappointment around the place shows how far we've come so quickly with this young team."

Huddersfield are unbeaten in their last three games, as well as their last three on the road, and although they have only managed two away goals this season manager Mark Robins was delighted to take a point at a 'really difficult place to come'.

"You wouldn't have bet on a 0-0 but we've got one and the reason for that was because we allowed them to play in the first half but didn't allow it in the second and created the better opportunities," he said.

"We came here last year and got nothing. They're a strong outfit, have a decent squad and I'm pleased with the point.

"It was one of those games where had we upped our tempo five per cent we would have won the game. Had they done the same, they may have done so. It was a little bit of a stalemate.

"They were better first half than us, we were better in the second half than them. Or certainly we were better than we were in the first half and what we did was kept possession of the ball better in our half.

"When we went forward we were a little bit better but missed a cutting edge, which was the only thing missing but I'm delighted with a clean sheet away from home especially at a place like this.

"They've won 5-2 and 4-1 and had really good results at home and were confident so coming here and getting a 0-0 is a really good result on the face of it."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
