Paul Lambert: Hoping crowd gets right behind Villa against Bradford

Paul Lambert: Hoping crowd gets right behind Villa against Bradford

Villa head into Tuesday's semi-final second leg against Bradford City with a two-goal deficit to overturn after a shock 3-1 defeat to the League Two side two weeks ago.

Lambert has called on a home crowd that has been afforded scant cheer so far this season to create an intimidating atmosphere at Villa Park.

"It will be a different game with the crowd right behind us," Lambert, whose side languish a point above the drop zone in the Premier League, told the club's official website.

"We had a lot of chances up at Bradford. If we can create that amount of chances, then we'll be close.

"If we get through it will be absolutely fantastic. The crowd will be unbelievable and that will drive us on, I'm sure.

"We will give it everything we've got to get through. It would be a great occasion if we can do it. It would be great for everyone at the club. It can definitely play a huge part in the season turning (around)."

Though Villa let slip a two-goal lead to draw with West Brom on Saturday, Lambert insists their first-half display was a much-needed morale boost.

"We will take a lot of confidence out of the West Brom game, that's for sure," he added.

"Yes, the lads were down but I had a chat with them and they know themselves the way they played there. They now need to replicate the first half and I'm pretty sure they will."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
