Gabriel Agbonlahor: Insists Premier League survival is his main focus

The former England international scored his 59th goal for Villa nine days ago in what was a crucial win over bottom club QPR .

That leaves him just one goal away from matching Yorke's total for the club, but Agbonlahor insists his focus in on helping Paul Lambert's side remain clear of the Premier League drop zone.

"It would be nice to break the record but the only thing on my mind is keeping the club up. If the record comes it comes," he told the Birmingham Mail.

The 26-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Villa Park, is contracted until the summer of 2015 and expressed his desire to remain with the Villa Park side.

"All that has ever been on my mind is getting in the side for the next game," said Agbonlahor.

"In football you never know what's going to happen. It's been a crazy journey and the time has flown by, but I've enjoyed every single bit of it.

"Long may it continue. I'm lucky to have been at a club like this for so long.

"I enjoy my football and I'm in the side. As long as that continues I would always want to stay. I've been with Villa since I was 13 and to still be here is a massive thing."

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
