Ron Vlaar: Keen to keep his place in Holland squad for the World Cup

Holland became the first European team to book their place in Brazil next summer earlier this month with two games to spare.

Villa captain Vlaar is determined to keep his place in Louis van Gaal's plans for the Dutch next summer and he believes the challenge to do that will have a positive effect for Villa.

"Now we have made it to Brazil, I'm obviously hoping to be selected in the squad for the finals," Vlaar told the Birmingham Mail.

"So I have an added incentive for making sure I produce my best form for Villa over the coming months - not that I wouldn't be striving to do that anyway."
