The Scot's side have now taken just three points from five games at their Villa Park base, while collecting seven on the road, and Lambert has turned his attention to Saturday's trip to the Boleyn Ground in east London to face West Ham.

He told Sky Sports News: "We try to win every game. Anybody who came on Saturday, for the first 20 minutes we were excellent, to be fair for about the first hour, 70 minutes we were very good and then we got a goal against us - probably against the run of play.

"We go (again) on Saturday against West Ham, we'll go down there and it'll be a tough game but we're certainly tough enough to go and win. I've only been there once, last year, and it's a good atmosphere so I'm looking forward to it."

Forward Gabriel Agbonlahor is Lambert's only concern for the trip south and he added: "He's got a knock on that ankle that was giving him a bit of a problem before so we have to wait and see. Everybody else seems not too bad."

Star striker Christian Benteke missed a golden opportunity to put the home side ahead against Everton from the penalty spot but Lambert insisted he would not criticise the Belgium forward for the miss.

He said: "There's no way you can hold any grudge for that, he's been excellent for us and scored some very important goals.

"With penalties it can happen, it's the first one he's missed but I'm pretty sure if he gets a chance on Saturday he'll score.

"At the time I wasn't sure how good a save it was but you have to give the Everton goalkeeper credit for the save.

"We should have been out of sight after the first 20 minutes, if we'd taken our chances the game would have been done. It shows you the progress we've made and, as I've said before, if we're on our game, we're a match for anyone."

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
