Paul Lambert: Aston Villa boss is happy with his team's season so far

Villa are aiming to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at Fulham and a 3-0 reverse to Manchester United in the last couple of weeks.

But Lambert is hopeful his charges can replicate the 3-2 victory at Southampton, which was the last in a run of five undefeated games in the Premier League before the loss at Fulham.

Lambert said: "We have had two performances, against Fulham and Manchester United, where we weren't good enough and that is the bottom line.

"But against Southampton, I thought we were excellent considering the way they have been going.

"The start we have made to the season has been pretty okay. You can't let two games be a real bugbear. You have to let them go, and we'll go up to Stoke and try to win.

"The good thing about the group is that while they can feel down after games, you get them back at the training ground and you can get them up again.

"You are hoping the fans look at it as you do yourself - you have to let games go, whether you win, lose or draw. You can't dwell on them."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
