Alan Pardew's men have now won only one of their last six Premier League fixtures, and although they have lost just two, they have slipped off the pace as they attempt to repeat last season's top-five finish.

Swansea are next up for Newcastle at St James' Park this weekend and Taylor is keen for them to get back to winning ways.

Taylor said: "We have to take positives out of Sunday's game, move on to next week and put in a good performance for ourselves and the fans.

"The main thing is that we get the three points that we want. But Swansea are a very, very good team, so we are going to have to be patient."

Former Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan hit the winner for West Ham and Taylor had mixed feelings about his return to the north-east.

He said: "It was nice for him to come back. We are disappointed he got the goal, but we have just got to get on with it.

"He's a very good player and he's a goalscoring midfielder. I don't know how he hasn't had his chance for England."
