Jeremie Aliadiere: Lorient won't sell striker following reports of a bid by

Aliadiere has put his career back on track since joining Lorient in 2011 and he has enjoyed a solid season in Ligue 1.

The 29-year-old, who previously had spells in the Premier League with Arsenal and Middlesbrough, has been linked with a return to English football.

Reports in France claimed Newcastle had seen an offer knocked back and Gourcuff confirmed he cannot afford to let Aliadiere leave this month.

"I know Jeremie's wife is missing England a lot but I know Jeremie will still be here on February 1st," Gourcuff told L'Equipe.

"Losing such a decisive player in the middle of a season would be an aberration.

"If Jeremie were to leave, we would have money, but money won't replace the player. That excludes any January transfer whatever the fee is. In June, it would be different."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
