Yohan Cabaye: Has urged his fellow Frenchmen at Newcastle to learn the language

Manager Alan Pardew now has 14 French-speaking players at the club after adding the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Massadio Haidara and Yoan Gouffran during the January transfer window.

And Cabaye, who was on target in the Magpies' 2-1 victory at Aston Villa which ended a sequence of 17 games without a victory away from home, has urged players to pick up an understanding of the language as soon as possible.

"We are in England, so it's logical to learn the language as quickly as possible," Cabaye told L'Equipe.

"The easiest way would be not to learn it, but that would be disrespectful. If ten Italian players came into a French club, we would like them to learn our language.

"It's up to the elders like me, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa and Romain Amalfitano to fulfil our role and help our fellow countrymen to communicate with their team-mates."
