Shane Ferguson: Joins Birmingham on loan until 1 April

The Northern Ireland international came through the Academy at St James' Park and has played 23 times for the Magpies.

But he has not featured in the Newcastle first-team since coming on as a substitute in their 7-3 defeat to Arsenal in December and will now help Lee Clark's side in their battle to pull clear of the Championship relegation zone.

The 21-year-old is in line to make his Blues debut against Hull City at the KC Stadium on Saturday, with his final game for the club due to be the West Midlands derby with Wolves.

Ferguson, who can also operate in defence, becomes the second Newcastle player to go out on loan to a Championship side this week, after Sammy Ameobi made the move to Middlesbrough on a temporary deal.
