Ewerton: Pleased with the 0-0 draw against Newcastle in the Europa League

On a freezing night at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, the two sides played out a game of precious few chances.

Guus Hiddink's men had won every one of their home matches in Europe this season, so Newcastle will be satisfied with the result heading into next week's return game at home.

Former Corinthians stopper Ewerton was impressed with the Magpies' performance, but believes his side are good enough to progress through to the quarter-finals.

"It was a good result, but we could have won and achieved a good result at home," he told UOL.

"The game in England is going to be harder but we can win. Their team is strong and they showed it on the pitch.

"It's important to add that we missed some of our experienced players. Willian's injury harmed our attacking strength.

"But we will work hard in the next days, and use the game in the Russian League on the weekend [as preparation] to try to advance in the Europa League".
