Mathieu Debuchy: Has praised Newcastle's fans

The ex-Lille man recently received praise from manager Alan Pardew for his displays and Debuchy puts his good form partly down to the support from Newcastle's fans.

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, Debuchy said: "The supporters have been absolutely fantastic. They welcomed me with open arms.

"To hear your name chanted during a game gives you a huge boost. Of course, the fans are very important, especially here at Newcastle. They are the 12th man on the pitch, as they say."

Newcastle entertain Premier League new boys Hull City on Saturday.

The Magpies have started the new season in decent form and Debuchy is confident the future is bright after back-to-back wins against Fulham and Aston Villa.

"Overall, we have done well as a team," he said.

"We feel very well prepared. We have done the right sort of preparation, so I think we have a good chance this season."
