Alan Pardew: Insists it is 'business as usual' for him at Newcastle

Pardew's future has been called into question after a disappointing start to the season which sees the club occupying the same position where they finished last season, 16th.

Rumours began to surface that Pardew was on the verge of dismissal after he failed to emerge from a post-match meeting with owner Mike Ashley and director of football Joe Kinnear following the Everton game.

But Pardew insisted it was business as usual for him at St James's Park.

"It's important to go to see the owner after a game like that and make sure that we know where we are coming from," he said.

"We had a good meeting after - me, Mike and Joe - just to make sure we know exactly what is going on on the pitch and what's going on in terms of the results.

"There was nothing untoward there.

"Most Premier League managers are (under pressure)," he continued. "I was with (Aston Villa boss) Paul Lambert yesterday and he was saying after their three defeats, everyone was giving them a lot of trouble.

"The social media as well makes it so much more difficult with all sorts of stuff being put on there, so there is more pressure.

"But you just have to cope with it, it's as simple as that."

He added: "I have been here three years and it's a tough job. But I enjoy it.

"It's not been our greatest week, but the club we are, we can win 3-0 at Cardiff and everybody will say we are going to win the league, so you just have to go with it."

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
