Papiss Cisse: Newcastle striker wants to get back among the goals

The Senegal international enjoyed an eye-catching start to life with the Magpies, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances over the remainder of the season after moving to St James' Park in January 2012.

But he has failed to find the net in his last 13 Premier League outings, with his solitary goal of this campaign coming in the Capital One Cup success over Leeds.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admitted he hoped Cisse would score while on international duty this weekend and the striker himself, who will lead the Senegal line against Ivory Coast in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier, believes the goals will come soon.

He told The Chronicle: "I will score goals this season. I have not forgotten how to score a goal.

"I believe in myself and I feel I am coming close to good form.

"I am sure it will happen for me soon."
