Kompany pleased with point

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was pleased to have come through unscathed against Chelsea as he helped his side claim a 0-0 draw.

The Belgian star was a major doubt for the SuperSunday clash at Stamford Bridge after suffering an ankle injury against Real Madrid in midweek.

But Kompany played the 90-minutes for City and had a starring role as they played out a goalless draw.

"I was on crutches just 48 hours ago," Kompany said.

"I wanted to play for the team. I had said that I wouldn't play if I couldn't give everything I had on the pitch. But I am happy I was able to take part, because it was not the most comfortable game."

Kompany was pleased to have kept Chelsea at bay, in a solid defensive display, adding: "It's always a difficult away game. I don't think there are many times we come here and win.

"In the end it was a draw and as a defender I am happy with a clean sheet - I guess that's what I'm going to take out of the game.

"Our last performance against Real Madrid wasn't as bad as what the table shows at the moment. But this is another big game out of the way for us and we look forward to the other games and we feel that we can do enough to win a lot of games from here until the end of the season."
