Kompany: Derby still matters

Vincent Kompany: Hoping to see City claim local bragging rights in Manchester de

Manchester City skipper Kompany has seen his side fall 15 points off the pace in the Premier League title race, with a crown they claimed in 2011/12 poised to slip from their grasp.

United are set to welcome that particular trophy back to Old Trafford, with Sir Alex Ferguson's side easing towards the finishing post.

Their commanding lead at the summit has led some to suggest that the latest meeting between City and United will have lost some of its edge, but Kompany claims no-one at the Etihad Stadium is buying into that way of thinking.

The Belgian centre-half, who netted a crucial winner which helped to spark City's late title charge in a meeting with United 12 months ago, said: "A derby is a derby. I don't think we could care less about the league in that game.

"It is about who is going to be champions of Manchester - that is all it is.

"Last year had so much more to it. It was a derby and a big comeback from all of us. It is a completely different situation, today and last year.

"For me it is a one-off game and everything that has happened in the past has no importance whatsoever next Monday.

"It is about coming out on top in that game. I am looking forward to it and I think everyone else at Manchester City is too."

m not sure about this distance covered malarky, plus that stat comes with *since February attached to it, that's just 1 month. I mean I have 27 open cases I'm 'working on' at the moment but believe me others with 10 cases work harder than I do. I just got back from a pub lunch, scampi and chips (+4 pints) in case you were wondering.
