Samir Nasri: Back in the international fold

Samir Nasri: Back in the international fold

The Manchester City midfielder has not played for Les Bleus since Euro 2012, when he fell foul of the French Football Federation following an expletive-laden outburst at journalists.

That earned him a three-match ban by the FFF and subsequent snub by national coach Didier Deschamps, but Nasri has now been given another chance at international level.

Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala has also received his first senior call-up but midfielder Franck Ribery has been left out as a result of Bayern Munich's appearance in the Champions League final on May 25.

France will play Uruguay in Montevideo on June 5 before taking on Brazil in Porto Alegre four days later.

France squad: Mickael Landreau (Bastia), Hugo Lloris (Tottenham), Steve Mandanda (Marseille); Gael Clichy (Manchester City), Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle), Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal), Mamadou Sakho (Paris St Germain), Eliaquim Mangala (Porto), Jeremie Mathieu (Valencia), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Adil Rami (Valencia); Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle), Blaise Matuidi (Paris St Germain), Mathieu Valbuena (Marseille), Samir Nasri (Manchester City), Josuha Guilavogui (St Etienne), Yoann Gourcuff (Lyon), Etienne Capoue (Toulouse); Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Olivier Giroud (Arsenal), Bafetimbi Gomis (Lyon), Jeremy Menez (Paris St Germain), Dimitri Payet (Lille).

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
