Tevez: I asked City to leave

Carlos Tevez has been unveiled as a Juventus player and admitted that he asked new Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini for a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Last Updated: 27/06/13 at 17:07 Post Comment

Tevez has agreed a three-year deal with the Turin side and, speaking at a media conference on Thursday, was delighted to finally complete the move.

He said: "I thank Juventus for the effort they have done to bring me here. And I thank Manchester City for the beautiful years they gave me.

"I talked to Pellegrini, telling him that I wanted to go away from Manchester City because I considered my cycle ended there."

The Argentine striker has been handed the famous number 10 shirt at Juventus and is aware he is following arguably the club's greatest ever player.

He said: "The number 10 shirt is an important responsibility because it was a number of great champions of the past, the last one was (Alessandro) Del Piero.

"For me it is an honour to wear his own shirt."

Tevez had also been linked with another Serie A side, AC Milan, but says that he only spoke to the club a couple of times.

Tevez added: "The interest from AC Milan? Let me be very clear. I spoke with Adriano Galliani just one year ago, for two or three times in my life.

"Now I'm a Juventus player and I'm happy here. I can give to the team my experience and my quality."

sn'tthis strange. Last season we were worried that we were stuck with a Dinosaur in Moyes while Liverpool and Everton were disappearing into the distance with their young, spritely managerts, playing football from heaven. Progressive managers, they said. Managers who understand the modern game.........

ood list, some crackers in there. For me, I'd have had Steve McManaman for Liverpool away at Celtic in the UEFA cup in 1997. I was in the ground that night and everyone kept screaming at him to make a pass, but he just kept going and going and going...brilliant, and in the dying minutes too.
