The 19-year-old shone in the 2012/13 campaign, his first in European football since completing a switch from Corinthians.
His ability, and potential to get even better, has been noted by top sides across the continent.
Free-spending outfits such as Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with holding an interest in the teenage centre-half.
Marquinhos is, however, tied to a long-term contract at Roma and no transfer discussions have been held.
His representative, Giuliano Bertolucci, told Sky Sport Italia: "It's a natural thing that there is a lot of interest in him, but at the moment no official offers have arrived. Roma have not allowed us to talk to anyone.
"The player has a contract for four seasons with Roma and he will surely stay
"I can confirm I was in Barcelona, but it happened a long time ago and Marquinhos is not my only client."
